Breakfast
We try to make our breakfasts wonderfully satisfying without weighing you down. The emphasis is on fresh and seasonal ingredients.
You can have any of the items below in any combination. And if there’s anything else you’d particularly like, just ask and we’ll do our best to provide!
Overnight porridge à la Aga is sensational, and is one of life’s culinary triumphs. However, by its very nature it does require prior preparation, so if you would like this for breakfast, please let us know the night before.
Choose from any or all of the following -
- Yogurt
- Fresh fruit
- Hot stewed Bramley apples from our garden
- Freshly-squeezed orange juice
- Cereals – muesli and cornflakes
- Porridge or groats – cooked overnight in the slow oven of the Aga. (For those Sassenachs who are not quite sure of the difference, groats are essentially whole oat grains, with all the bran and fibre retained.)
- Smoked haddock and poached or scrambled eggs
- Full English Breakfast – any or all of black pudding, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs
- Omelettes
- Hot beverages – leaf tea, cafetière of coffee (decaffeinated on request), hot chocolate, fruit or herbal tisanes
