Arrivals & Departures
We are pretty free and easy about the times you arrive and depart. All we would ask is that you let us know roughly when you intend to arrive so that we can make sure we are on hand to greet you. We can agree on a time for breakfast when you are here.
Payment
Payment is by cash or cheque. We’re sorry, but we don’t accept debit or credit cards.
Pets
Pets are welcome at Greenlooms Cottage – we make a small charge (£5 per night) to cover cleaning, and we ask that you bring the necessary bedding, bowls and food. Dogs are allowed in the garden (with an appropriate nods toward hygiene, of course).
Sustainability
We do all we can to minimise our impact on our wonderful planet. Of course, we’ve been using low energy light bulbs and eco detergents for years, but we’re not really sure about solar panels, heat pumps and wind turbines, so we haven’t gone ahead with any of these – any guests who care to add to our knowledge on this these are welcome to contribute!
Here's our best tip - we've discovered that orange peel makes the most marvellous kindling when dried. And as you can imagine, squeezing fresh oranges for juice at breakfast generates a goodly quantity of source material!
Emergencies
We are fully armed with details of doctors, dentists and opticians should you meet with any mishaps while in our care, although we hope that you can remain in total ignorance of any of these!
Places of Worship
There are Church of England churches with regular services in Waverton (St Peters), Hargrave (St Peters) and Tattenhall (St Albans).
There are Catholic churches in Tarporley (St Thomas Becket) and Chester (St Werburgh’s and St Francis), plus a Saturday service at Rowton Methodist Church in Waverton.
Taxis
We can arrange a taxi for you in advance. We use a reliable local firm (Abbey Taxis).
Public transport
Unfortunately, there are no buses which pass Greenlooms Cottage. The nearest service goes from Waverton (which is a couple of miles away) into Chester.
The nearest railway station is at Chester, which is a few miles away by taxi. There are excellent mainline services to London (via Crewe) and North Wales from Chester.
